Estoril, a trendy city

Estoril has always been a preferred destination for the most reputable and influential figures from Portugal and Europe.

Everything started with Fausto Figueiredo and Henri Martinet. Inhaled by the French Riviera, they knew how to enhance the potential of the seaside town. They quickly transformed it into a strong attraction for the most esteemed and influential personalities.

The urban expansion mixed with Hotel Londres' history. The potential of the location attracted António Aguiar, who was the director of Hotel Atlântico at the time, to oversee this developing space, quickly transforming it into a landmark.

Hotel Londres was inaugurated on May 30, 1959, with 30 rooms. By 1962, it had already expanded to 40 rooms and has since never stopped growing.

Holidays and social events, everything arises at Hotel Londres — 1959 a 1972

Hotel Londres was part of the history. It was not only the place chosen by the high society for the holidays, it was the meeting point for the social events. The carnival and New Year parties are remembered nowadays, and even members of the Spanish royal family have passed there.

Ups and downs along the way

Significant events, such as the European oil crisis (1972) or the Portuguese April Revolution (1974), had a direct impact on tourism and affected the Hotel development in a period.

The golden years broke for a while and new solutions had to be found. But quickly, Hotel Londres managed to carve its place in history and resume its growth, in a process that strengthened it.

The exciting 80s

From the 80s, restoration became a constant. A new administration imposed the rules and the Hotel returned to be the high society's favorite spot. In two years an expansion occurred, and the capacity improved to 118 rooms.

In the 90s history repeated itself and the Gulf War affected tourism, But once again, the bravery of those who were leading this reference point prevailed.

During 1999, Patrihotel SA acquired the hotel, an association that remains today. The acquisition began a more technological and digital era, and the Hotel Londres keeps highlighting it as the best spot to be and spend your holidays.

The future starts now

The renovation technology and modernity project Hotel Londres for the future. With a leadership and management model that has survived decades of challenges and evolution, the hotel continues to deliver the best customer experience, at any time of the year.

In 2023 Hotel Londres entered the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice list, which proves that it keeps being recognized nationally and internationally as the best Hotel in the Estoril Coast.
